Hello beautiful soul,
Have you recently noticed the heaviness in the air?
I’ve noticed more and more of my clients, friends, family and even myself at times feeling almost suppressed by this heaviness.
It’s true, we might often feel powerless in the face of global chaos, but within the walls of our homes, we wield the power to create a sanctuary where we can unapologetically be ourselves.
I’ve learned that regular cleansing is key to preserving this sacred space. And by cleansing, I don’t just mean tidying up. It’s about stripping away the unnecessary weight, starting with the clutter in our cars, workspaces, and homes. When we declutter, it’s as if the path clears, and our minds follow suit, allowing a sense of peace to settle within us.
But there’s more to it than just physical tidying. It’s crucial to release the pent-up emotional energy that tends to linger within the spaces. Otherwise, we end up navigating through a heaviness of old emotions that leave us feeling stuck and reactive, hindering our creativity, and clouding our clarity.
When I think back to my childhood days in the countryside, Saturdays were dedicated to an all-out cleaning ritual. Beds were stripped, windows flung open, and the whole house would undergo a top-to-bottom scrub down. The outside didn’t escape the purging either – the lawns were meticulously mowed, the garden tended to, and the car polished till it sparkled.
Unfortunately, it seems this kind of ritual has lost its place in our modern routines. As a result, we’ve somehow forgotten how to naturally infuse our living spaces with that deep sense of renewal and energy flow. It’s important to remember that our sanctuary is the space where we release it all, the good and the not-so-good.
In my own sanctuary, I’ve established practices that have transformed my space into a haven of love and tranquillity.
Every person who steps into my home feels the warmth and lightness of the atmosphere, recognizing it as a nurturing cocoon. I hold client sessions here, many of whom are on their own healing journeys, grappling with grief and trauma. And just like anyone else, I, too, experience moments of emotional turbulence within these walls, allowing myself to embrace every part of my authentic self.
That’s why I feel compelled to share my personal tips on how to cleanse your home. The methods I’ve adopted are grounded in timeless wisdom, steeped in intention, and have stood the test of time, echoing through centuries.
It’s important now more than ever to be proactive with our health and well-being.
So, let’s look at how to cleanse your home’s energy with a ‘smudge stick’ made from white sage (grandfather sage).
(You can also use sandalwood incense or a Palo Santo stick. If you have sinus sensitivity, do this with a bell or Tibetan bowl instead of incense or a smudge stick).
Please ensure that you start at the front door and flow throughout each room (not missing any) and finish at the front door.
It is important not to be disturbed while you do this ritual.
- Before you start, open every door and window in your home, office space etc.
- Light the smudge stick, let it burn, then blow out the flame, or it may go out itself, and the stick will begin to smoke. Sit it in a stone bowl (incense in a holder) to ensure no lit ash falls onto your floor or furniture.
- Ask your guardian angel to walk with you as you clear away the dense and negative energy in your home.
- Fan the smoke with your other hand or use a feather, fanning into every corner of each room (not missing any room or walk-in cupboard).
- As you walk, imagine bright golden energy flowing behind you, filling each room with a light and loving vibration.
- It’s important to leave the doors and windows open for the next hour.
Personally, I do a weekly cleansing ritual as I firmly believe in its regular practice. Just as we vacuum, dust, and cleanse our physical bodies, why shouldn’t we take the time to clear the energy that permeates our homes, cars, and workspaces?
A good tell-tale sign to cleanse is when you feel lethargy, angst, or anxiousness within yourself or amongst your family.
I invite you to try this ritual and experience its transformative power.
Let me know how it resonates with you.
Until next time, with love, Maria x
