The Spirit of Christmas

SibylDec2018

First Published in Sibyl Magazine December 2018

It doesn’t seem that long ago when I sat with my children on Christmas Eve. Together, we placed a bowl filled with water at the base of the Christmas tree for the reindeer, and not to forget they could be starving travelling so far from the North Pole carrying SO MANY PRESENTS. We then had to ensure there were plenty of carrots for them to eat to keep them healthy for their long journey.

Then Santa, oh Santa he had to be taken care of with freshly baked chocolate chip cookies out of the oven and a big glass of milk because that was his favourite.

As a parent, I loved Christmas. The excitement the decorations, the spirit of family coming together, and the smiles that seemed to light up with every Christmas decoration adorning each house in the street as night fell and lights sparkled.

My children, a son and daughter, were so excited Christmas Eve they had to sleep together in the same room. Surprisingly it became a tradition which lasted well into their teens. Laughing, I’m not sure to this day, whether they carried on that tradition for themselves or for me. You see they knew I loved Christmas and loved to create magic around that time of year.

Then, they grew up left home, and it didn’t quite seem so much fun, so much magic. There was no need to set up the treats for the reindeer and Santa on Christmas Eve. There was no need to creep around the house and place the presents carefully under the tree. Now, my home was quiet on Christmas morning. No children’s squeals of delight as they saw Santa had eaten his biscuits and drank his milk and the reindeers had munched on some of the carrots leaving a terrible mess.

No Christmas wrapping was strewn all over the place as they excitedly unwrapped each present and beamed with delight. That was the magic, not so much the Christmas presents for I never had money to spend extravagantly. It was their faces, their appreciation and gratitude which created the magic in the room that sparkled with love, happiness and laughter.

Then me baking waffles and pancakes in the kitchen for our breakfast was our special treat. Waffles covered with ice-cream, maple syrup and seasonal fruit, and pancakes with sugar and lemon. My mouth is watering, and my heart is glowing just remembering.

For some years, I sadly lost my Christmas spirit. There didn’t seem to be any purpose to it, until this year, something opened inside of me, and the magic was reborn. An outpouring of love and gratitude ignited within my heart, and the inner child began to dance. She inspired me to feel the magic and spirit of Christmas once again.

If you’re feeling saddened, remember you’re not alone. For the gift is in the magic, and the magic is within you. Give yourself permission and allow it to break through.

Merry Christmas,

The Gift of the Messenger

SibylNov2018

First Published in Sibyl Magazine November 2018

There are events in our life that transpire to open us to deep and soulful healing, and this was one of them.

Within my heart of hearts, I’d wished for that day to come, and it did. I was meeting with someone I’d loved all their life and had been estranged from for some years. We met for only a short hour, but then, all came crashing down, and my heart cracked open leaving a huge crevice.

Initially, the hurt and pain were intense. So much so, in glimpses, I’d felt helpless and without hope. The event wasn’t the cause it was the catalyst that triggered multiple traumas I’d endured and had shelved, which flooded into my consciousness. The overwhelming emotion felt stuck. I could feel the tidal wave within, but I’d gone numb, and in shock, my mind froze, until, I chose consciously to release and allow the healing to begin.

That was a pivotal moment, and enlightening choice for it generated an outpouring of love and gratitude for that person because she was the ONE. The messenger, the gift.

It was time to set myself free, and I gave myself permission to TRULY heal those traumas. Several months later my relationship with that person opened like a lotus with such purity and renewal, and a new beginning was now possible.

Things had changed because I’d changed. Patterns had altered and were still in their adjustment stage. Supportive and loving beliefs had embedded within my consciousness, and the subconscious limiting beliefs and sabotaging habits had been cleared and re-set.

Through a profound awareness, I witnessed consciously my actions, thoughts and movement moment by moment, and day by day. I sensed my healing and the newness forming, but I noticed unconscious patterns and how quickly I reverted to the previous default behaviour. Yes, just like our computer settings we do have subconscious defaults.

In those moments I stopped midstream and felt within, and my realisations came quickly and with acknowledgement and understanding. I didn’t berate myself, in fact, I congratulated myself for the recognition and then felt empowered to choose between the old way of being and the new and more conscious way.

The old way, had me moving through life in survival mode. It was understandable because the innocence of the child was taken so young through physical abuse, manipulation and narcissism. The realisation was that even though, she was an intelligent, compassionate child of the stars she had never felt good enough and worthy, which filtered into her adult life. It undermined her growth and happiness with busyness, doing and should.

The new conscious way, I felt empowered, good enough, and worthy. It motivated me to thrive and to create through love, SELF-LOVE.

Simplicity, gratitude and a soft focus are my way forward. Each movement, I ask, “Is this loving me?” For I now walk with purpose upon this earth with a renewed passion to restore hope into the hearts of many. Including mine.

Until next week,

A message from the Guardians of the Light channelled by Maria Lacey

The energy of love surrounds you. Let not your worry or concern dull your senses and belonging within this wonderful world we have. You our child of light are one with all that is, was and will be.

Wake up … Wake up…. For LOVE flows from an everlasting stream of light.

Today, let the world know of what has and is to come.

Joy our children of earth.

JOY in all its glory for you are moving the energy of suffering and clearing the debris of the past. Through this transformation all is possible.

The energy of love is that which is within all beings, the energy of love is filled with a light so bright it lights every darkened corner and illuminates all that is. The energy of love is filled with many wonderful possibilities of today and what is yet to come.

Our children of earth, do not allow the past to taint the present for all is forgiven, all is forgotten and all will be held within an embrace of love felt with so much kindness and compassion all else will dissolve. Love is here to stay and all that is not will eventually be gone.

Do not analyse our words, but feel, connect and energise for you are now moving into a new paradigm which is held with much lighter energy.

BREATHE IN AND OUT, SLOW DEEP BREATHS for breath is life and life is breath held together by love.

Recognise the wisdom within these paragraphs and ignite the union of body and Christ.

Illuminate children of earth and know all will be well.

Awareness, Flow and Nature’s Gift

SibylOctober

First published in Sibyl Magazine October 2018

Something is soothing and healing when immersed in nature.

When I’m by the ocean, I feel invigorated, and especially love it when it’s blowing a gale and icy cold. My body, heart and soul are uplifted and excited when I see and hear the waves crashing against the rocks, and feel the ocean spray on my face. An urge rises, and I want to sing to my heart’s content, and don’t tell anyone, but I’ve been known to sit on a rock and do precisely that. Smiling, and always with open arms, my voice is directed out to the vast ocean, unrestrained and uninhibited, and encouraged by my inner child as a giggle erupts as she opens her eyes wide and smiles at the world with a cheeky grin.

Have you ever felt inspired to release your melody and let your inner child play in nature?

I’d just arrived home after walking Maggie my gorgeous pup along a small creek surrounded by Australian Native trees and dense bush. During my walk I wanted to be present, laughing, it helped with Maggie’s keen interest to sniff the ground and every blade of grass along the way.

It reminded me how I nurture and guide others through meditation. Especially when I take my class outside and teach mindfulness techniques while communing with nature as they breathe and harmonise the gifts that Mother Nature offers. Or, when seated inside, I guide their journey through visualisation and encourage my class to connect to a place of stillness within.

That day, I was in awe of nature’s beauty as I gazed along the creek bed. A tree had died and was now supported by another on the other side. Surprisingly, that picture reminded me of my community and those that care for me, and a comforting warmth spread through my body.  The glistening water in the creek caught my attention, luscious new growth was sprouting, and a vast range of colours tantalised my senses. I felt calm and peaceful and noticed my breath was deep and gentle, and fell in love, and felt nourished by the beautiful landscape.

Maggie became a little restless, so we continued our walk. Soon we met with a woman who carried a professional, sturdy camera in her hand. She was looking up into the tree, so I stopped and said hello. She explained that some kookaburras had nested in the hollow of the tree above and she was keen to capture a photo of the baby kookaburra. We began a conversation about sustainability, different cultures, and then our travels overseas. She’d been to many of the countries I had, and it was a delight to reminisce and share stories.

Later, I realised we had created our own melodic chatter as our energy interconnected and our vibration stretched and expanded into many continents. I wondered, “Was nature now listening intently to us, and did she feel and absorb the inspiration and heartfelt joy of our connection?” I hoped so.

With gratitude.

Until next week beautiful souls,

Maria’s Musings

2AB45D5A-30CC-473C-A649-69F735E0FE9B

Creativity flows in many ways. For me when I write, I love to frequent local cafés to inspire my muse, that wise, sometimes humorous, other times poetic and loving self.

Have you ever felt so grateful that your heart expanded and shone a light so bright all you could do was bathe in the euphoria?

Well, that’s happening right now as I sit on the deck at my local cafe surrounded by nature. Laughing, I’m so pumped that my heart wants to sing out loud. Hmm, restrain yourself Maria you don’t want to shock those here at the cafe.

In my musings today I wanted to share how we have the ability to make choices because we were born into this realm with free will. This means we are empowered at all times to create from a loving and wholesome place. Sometimes, life can throw the occasional curveball but we have the ability to catch it, and either throw it back or put it down for a while allowing time to process and embrace any teachings.

Eckhart Tolle in his wisdom says, “Life will give you whatever experience is most helpful for the evolution of your consciousness. How do you know this is the experience you need? Because this is the experience you are having at the moment.”

The energies, planetary alignments and the inner emotional turmoil have been wild of late. Everything is shifting and it seems the Universe is prompting us, and to be honest sometimes even poking us. It’s time to release the old, heal the pain body and move into a higher more aligned vibration through self-love and self-healing.

YOU ARE IMPORTANT and so are your dreams, your life and all that you are can be, and will be.

It’s time to honour, acknowledge, accept and move on.

Today, I was speaking with a friend and shared how important it is to simplify and move out of the multi-skill mindset, and become one with the present for it’s gifted to us right now!

Our lives, our minds and our world have become far too chaotic.

It’s time to choose your battles, release what you can’t control, and bring your focus back into what makes you happy.

This raises our vibration and expands our awareness opening up the opportunity for solutions to appear.

When we have a soft focus, and a gentle loving breath, clarity appears and opens the door … halleluja.

Eckhart Tolle in his wisdom says, “Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on”.

Trust you enjoyed this week’s musings.

Until next week much love,

Did I Ever Tell You – Poetry in Motion

ILoveYou2

Did I ever tell you how much I love you
Or did you hear it in the whispering of my thoughts
I could have, would have and should have
But the time was never right.

Today, I sit in silence for your not around for me to say
I love you, I truly love you
Please don’t go away.

Was it my pride that stopped me
Or the fear and pain of my past
I love you, I really love you
And now its too late for the time has passed

But maybe you will hear my thoughts
No matter where you are
For my love, I love you, and I’m not too far

Have a blessed week.

Until next time,

Who’s Leading the Way?

SibylSept

First Published Sibyl Magazine September 2018

Life is exciting, I mean it is. It reminds me of metres of yarn of all different textures and colours being knitted together to create an abstract piece of art.

I love that we can have the freedom within our western society to be who we want, and to change it on a whim if we choose. To dye our hair, change our clothing style and even our body shape. God knows many of us are doing that.

I wonder though, with all that aesthetic change does it change the internal workings of who we are? I mean we are the same person, after all, sometimes confident, others times vulnerable. Occasionally free thinking and other times tied up with restrictions and the busyness life can present.

Let me ask, “Do we appreciate the amazing spiritual being we are or do we allow the ego to lead the way and quieten the voice of the soul?” Many of us do just that, so how do we gain a balance, I mean do we want to move from reaction and fear or a place of wholeness and ease. I certainly know what I would choose.

To quieten the thoughts and the ego-self, firstly, we must acknowledge those thoughts and remind ourselves that the ego can be eager fierce and loud in its delivery. The soul, on the other hand, is likened to a monk that sits and watches with much wisdom and a great knowing, but it won’t interfere nor struggle with the loud booming voice of the ego. Mind you. It doesn’t give up. It patiently waits for an opportunity, and when it comes, it surprises with words of wisdom said to a friend, or even, a feeling so strong that it can’t be ignored and guides you in the direction of your path.

Ego is not all bad for it motivates us and moves us to aspire, and it challenges us to be the best we can. The soul, on the other hand, is the fire in the heart that sparks and enriches our desire to do great things with a purpose in this life not only for ourselves but also our world, fuelled by love.

The ego can entangle us in mixed emotion and sway us from seeing the truth. The soul’s voice can move us in a way that seems far too simple, and surprisingly it is.

Can you see through this journey that no wonder we get confused between our head and our heart?

A process my soul’s wisdom shared is to STOP and sit in silence, breathe out allowing all tension to melt away, then raise our attention to just above our head to what I call the higher mind while we have our hands placed lovingly on our heart. It’s through this focus that the head and ego quieten, and we hear the voice and wisdom of our soul and feel the spark of desire and purpose within turn into a flame.
