Awareness Through Emotional Discomfort

It wasn’t comfortable when agitation began to stir within. Growing up those around me expressed theirs unhealthily. So, for me, I’d never allowed myself to show or feel anger, for I believed it was destructive, and the thought of projecting that towards another was soul-destroying.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t helpful because the anger imploded masked by sadness because I wasn’t freely expressing myself or felt safe to do so. In the past, occasionally it would rise like a serpent and strike. There was no stopping the rage that erupted in a swirl of euphoria as it was released. It would last only seconds. I can count the number of times on one hand that occurred. Shame and guilt followed, which caused me more grief as I buried it deeper into the recesses of my being.

It’s hard when you have denied that part of yourself to face it suddenly, yet, that’s precisely what’s needed, and I logically knew that.

When we meet something head-on, we come to realise it’s not as daunting as we’d initially thought or felt.

When acknowledged the rage lying in wait tempers, and becomes a smouldering flame ready for us to sit, listen, and heal.

Anger is a healthy emotion if expressed healthily. It’s not to be denied or pushed down. It’s an emotion that’s real and wants our attention because there’s much hurt and pain underneath.

Earlier this year, I sat with a friend, and she could hear my agitation. It had been with me all day, and it wasn’t until I openly expressed it, that I felt some relief. There had been a good reason in these past weeks why I felt that way. I’d seen my dentist for a crown, and while he was drilling my upper molar, he kept leaning an instrument against my front tooth. It had been sensitive for weeks, and I was frightened he’d caused significant damage.

The agitation initially was at him, but soon realised I was angry with myself for making only one attempt to tell him, and then resigning and putting up with it. After all, he was the expert I rationalised, but this wasn’t about him; it was about me speaking up to say STOP.

Having that realisation, I took some deep breaths down into my belly to lower my energy and anchor myself. It was then I felt calmer, and less overwhelmed by the emotion smouldering inside me.

Being grounded opened me to further clarity, and I felt self-forgiveness. This experience was a valuable lesson, one I’d ignored previously, and intended NEVER to repeat. It was time for me to value my body in all its entirety, and it deserved a voice to protect it.

Anger, when understood, is the voice that so willingly chooses to be heard. Listen to it, learn from it, and face it down to see what lies underneath, but never project it towards another. Lovingly empower yourself and shine your light upon it.

Until next time with love,

A Compassionate Heart Breathes

Compassionate heart
First published in Sibyl Magazine August 2019

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You. These are the words I say often. I love to hold my hands gently over my heart centre as I breathe deeply into my heart, feeling the gratitude with such warmth and comfort. How do you find comfort in your life? How do you connect to the gratitude within each breath, for breath is life, and is certainly something to be grateful?

Many times, over the years, I’ve experienced miraculous events. There have been times when I did not doubt that an earth angel visited to guide me, hold me, and in some cases, save my life. Everyday miracles abound, but do you notice them? Do you stop at that moment and acknowledge the gift? Or, do you shake your head and disregard that precious moment, that opportunity that could change the direction of your life.

We, as humans, have the gift of free-will. God, our creator, gave us this gift so that we can choose our path, our direction. What choices have you made that you either regret, judge, blame or shame? Do you carry that burden with you in the here and now? Does it weigh heavily on your heart, and does your mind consistently return to the past to only engage in further suffering?

I’m here to say, “Beautiful souls, please DO NOT carry this lower vibration for life is a series of experiences to learn and grow.” Breathe out… let it fall away and now breathe in for at this moment, free-will offers you an opportunity to make new and conscious choices. Choices made from the experience learnt, and the wisdom gained. There’s a saying; if you do what you’ve always done, you will get what you’ve always got. I say, change something small, and the outcome will surely differ.

YOU have the power to choose! Do not ever believe you are powerless, for powerless you will become.

Smiling, I can be so philosophical at times, and yet my heart bleeds when I see others suffer, and when I feel the suffering of the collective consciousness. Yes, I have also experienced many losses and had challenging times. I too have perceived I’ve made wrong choices, but I’m here to share that I’ve ALWAYS been guided back onto my path, and so are you if you only paused for a moment to see.

I’m learning just like you to TRUST in my journey and set myself free from my burdens. So that I may experience the simplicity that LOVE affords us when we move throughout our life being compassionate, kind and loving to ourselves. There’s a ripple effect when we do, and others will gain from our higher vibration, wisdom and actions.

The universe is an awesome wonder, and we are all so connected much more than we realise. Raise your vibration, and learn from your experience for your soul does not want you to suffer. Breathe in the gift of gratitude, and feel the peace and comfort.

Love you ❤

Until next time, breathe easy, love more and laugh often.
