Kindness and Vulnerability are Strengths

Little mouse where are you, hiding in your hole?

Come to me now for I seek your comfort.

All alone in this world stuck in my house,

Big bad COVID knocking on my door.

Let me in, let me in it shouts.

I’m scared little mouse, and I now understand how you must have felt.

Brrr I’m frightened as it knocks louder.

I can feel it’s prickly breath eerily close by.

Little mouse, little mouse, please give me your strength.

For today we are friends and I promise to be kinder.

There were, and are, many people left alone in their homes and isolated from family and friends during these worldwide lockdowns. It’s not easy for them in so many ways, and it has highlighted how many beautiful souls have been isolated and alone without family support and friendships even before COVID-19 hit.

For those introverts, we love our peaceful, quiet space for that is how we rejuvenate and nourish our souls, and even for myself during last years’ Melbourne lockdown, it tested me to my limits.

As human beings, we are not meant to spend endless hours and days alone. It’s not healthy for our mind, body, and spirit.

During those times, I was fortunate to have three friends within my 5km radius (for the Government did not permit us to go outside our zone). We could walk for 1hr per day, and I proactively contacted my friends and set up a schedule to ensure I was out walking each day.

It was my anchor, and my connection to another living soul, which was crucial for my mental and spiritual health, and my body certainly enjoyed the movement.

This pandemic has amplified what is important to us throughout these times, the importance of self-care and kindness to ourselves and others, and for me, embracing a simple and more balanced life.

No-one is walking in your shoes, and you are not walking in another’s. There is no room for judgement as we become more aware and grateful for our environment and the people we love and care for, but most importantly, those strangers who’s eyes that offer a smile, a nod of the head or a wave as they walk by.

Each day I’m thankful and even though I, like many, endured hardship. I have fallen even deeper in love with living, nature, and the importance of moving into this next decade with love, joy and appreciation in my heart.

We were born with free-will, and with free-will, we have a choice. Even Nelson Mandela, who was locked in prison, knew he had power over his thoughts, and I encourage you to use yours for the greatest good.

I understand its not easy with such uncertainty, financial hardship, and emotional and mental challenges, but I pray you seek help if you’re suffering is overwhelming.

None of us knows when our time will come on this earth plane, but we can choose how we perceive our life and what we can offer others, and how we choose to live.

Kindness is a strength as is vulnerability.

I implore you to remember who you are, a beautiful soul on an adventure throughout this realm. Connect within, know thyself, and through the power of love, which is an endless stream, we WILL prevail.

With love,
