Awareness, Flow and Nature’s Gift

SibylOctober

First published in Sibyl Magazine October 2018

Something is soothing and healing when immersed in nature.

When I’m by the ocean, I feel invigorated, and especially love it when it’s blowing a gale and icy cold. My body, heart and soul are uplifted and excited when I see and hear the waves crashing against the rocks, and feel the ocean spray on my face. An urge rises, and I want to sing to my heart’s content, and don’t tell anyone, but I’ve been known to sit on a rock and do precisely that. Smiling, and always with open arms, my voice is directed out to the vast ocean, unrestrained and uninhibited, and encouraged by my inner child as a giggle erupts as she opens her eyes wide and smiles at the world with a cheeky grin.

Have you ever felt inspired to release your melody and let your inner child play in nature?

I’d just arrived home after walking Maggie my gorgeous pup along a small creek surrounded by Australian Native trees and dense bush. During my walk I wanted to be present, laughing, it helped with Maggie’s keen interest to sniff the ground and every blade of grass along the way.

It reminded me how I nurture and guide others through meditation. Especially when I take my class outside and teach mindfulness techniques while communing with nature as they breathe and harmonise the gifts that Mother Nature offers. Or, when seated inside, I guide their journey through visualisation and encourage my class to connect to a place of stillness within.

That day, I was in awe of nature’s beauty as I gazed along the creek bed. A tree had died and was now supported by another on the other side. Surprisingly, that picture reminded me of my community and those that care for me, and a comforting warmth spread through my body.  The glistening water in the creek caught my attention, luscious new growth was sprouting, and a vast range of colours tantalised my senses. I felt calm and peaceful and noticed my breath was deep and gentle, and fell in love, and felt nourished by the beautiful landscape.

Maggie became a little restless, so we continued our walk. Soon we met with a woman who carried a professional, sturdy camera in her hand. She was looking up into the tree, so I stopped and said hello. She explained that some kookaburras had nested in the hollow of the tree above and she was keen to capture a photo of the baby kookaburra. We began a conversation about sustainability, different cultures, and then our travels overseas. She’d been to many of the countries I had, and it was a delight to reminisce and share stories.

Later, I realised we had created our own melodic chatter as our energy interconnected and our vibration stretched and expanded into many continents. I wondered, “Was nature now listening intently to us, and did she feel and absorb the inspiration and heartfelt joy of our connection?” I hoped so.

With gratitude.

Until next week beautiful souls,

Goodbye 2017 and Welcome 2018

goodby 2017 fireworks pic

Gosh, even saying 2018 almost feels space age to me at the tender young age of fifty-seven 😉

I’m sitting at my computer and wondering what could I share as we leave this year behind us, and it pops into my head like this:

–    Value the experiences, don’t judge them.

–    Draw out the wisdom gained.

–    Anchor that wisdom right here, right now.

–    Today is a new day filled with many possibilities.

–    Allow the past to cultivate richness and strength.

–    Move into the future with this knowledge and apply the wisdom.

Each year I choose a word sort of like an intention as to how I want my year to be. This year in 2017 I decided:

SIMPLICITY – to set clear boundaries that serve, love and support me, and to think, speak and act from my heart. To laugh and play a lot, and not take things too seriously.

Did I achieve it? Each time I began complicating my life I remembered my word, connected to my heart and immediately simplified it.  It’s amazing how easy that was to do.

Did I set clear boundaries? I’m getting better, laughing, and having a puppy the latter part of this year certainly helped. By training Maggie and creating her boundaries, surprisingly, it reinforced mine. We’re never alone in our pursuit to learn.

My word for 2018 is:

JOY – My happiness guides me and is the key to all my choices. When I’m happy I’m playful, creative, energised, a master manifestor, and passionate and this will naturally benefit others.

I’d love to read your word for 2018. Be brave my friends and write the word below in the comments. Writing something down with a loving intention creates a wave of magical energy to support you.

As 2017 closes I’ll be in meditation as I’ve done for many years.

I love to begin around ten minutes before the stroke of midnight. I then prepare and align with my heart, and soul, and higher mind and will continue into the new year for however long it flows.

Through my meditation, I expand my light and send healing to our world and especially Mother Earth. I’m also blessed to have received many divinely guided messages, which have supported the next stage of my journey. For this reason, I have next to me a pen and paper to write them down.

Maybe you could try it. If you like you can have a question ready, as you set your intention and align your energy, let go of expectations and meditate. Enjoy the bliss 😊

Well my friends, have an excellent rest of this year, feel the anticipation building and launch into 2018 with a grateful and loving heart.

Until next year,

Heart Retreat

NatureHeartPic

I’m sitting in my kitchen, the French doors are wide open, it’s been raining, and I can’t help but breathe in the freshness of the air. Love, the delicious smell of nature after a good rain.

Although the scene appears quiet and contemplative, there is a community of boisterous ravens and other species of birds in conversation. Laughing, no matter where we are, there is always sound around us, which reminds me that the only real quiet place is within.

Let me share a story relating to that place of complete silence.

It was time for my annual check-up at my doctor’s. You know the blood tests, blood pressure check, breast examination, etc. I had entered the reception area and noticed some patients coughing and spluttering not looking well, which of course is the very reason why they were there!

However, even though I was seeing my doctor, I was healthy and decided I needed to cocoon myself in a beautiful golden bubble of light, a sanctuary away from the infections flying through the air.

So I sat, created my bubble, closed my eyes and meditated in that beautiful healthy and loving energy.

The next moment, I felt someone place their hand on me gently shaking my shoulder and speaking in a clear, loud voice, “Maria, are you okay, open your eyes if you can hear me?”

I did and found several people surrounding me and although a little surprised I responded in a calm, and quiet voice, “I’m sorry I was meditating, is it my turn?”

You see, I had gone so deep into that beautiful silence that my breath was barely noticeable and a patient had informed reception convinced I had died sitting up in my seat.

It’s hilarious when I reflect back to the paradox of relieved, and confused expressions on their faces.

With practice, you too can disconnect from the external noise, create your sanctuary and connect into the silence of your soul, a peaceful, and loving place to be.

If you’d like to learn more about these practices, I invite you to join my mailing list.
