Awareness, Flow and Nature’s Gift

SibylOctober

First published in Sibyl Magazine October 2018

Something is soothing and healing when immersed in nature.

When I’m by the ocean, I feel invigorated, and especially love it when it’s blowing a gale and icy cold. My body, heart and soul are uplifted and excited when I see and hear the waves crashing against the rocks, and feel the ocean spray on my face. An urge rises, and I want to sing to my heart’s content, and don’t tell anyone, but I’ve been known to sit on a rock and do precisely that. Smiling, and always with open arms, my voice is directed out to the vast ocean, unrestrained and uninhibited, and encouraged by my inner child as a giggle erupts as she opens her eyes wide and smiles at the world with a cheeky grin.

Have you ever felt inspired to release your melody and let your inner child play in nature?

I’d just arrived home after walking Maggie my gorgeous pup along a small creek surrounded by Australian Native trees and dense bush. During my walk I wanted to be present, laughing, it helped with Maggie’s keen interest to sniff the ground and every blade of grass along the way.

It reminded me how I nurture and guide others through meditation. Especially when I take my class outside and teach mindfulness techniques while communing with nature as they breathe and harmonise the gifts that Mother Nature offers. Or, when seated inside, I guide their journey through visualisation and encourage my class to connect to a place of stillness within.

That day, I was in awe of nature’s beauty as I gazed along the creek bed. A tree had died and was now supported by another on the other side. Surprisingly, that picture reminded me of my community and those that care for me, and a comforting warmth spread through my body.  The glistening water in the creek caught my attention, luscious new growth was sprouting, and a vast range of colours tantalised my senses. I felt calm and peaceful and noticed my breath was deep and gentle, and fell in love, and felt nourished by the beautiful landscape.

Maggie became a little restless, so we continued our walk. Soon we met with a woman who carried a professional, sturdy camera in her hand. She was looking up into the tree, so I stopped and said hello. She explained that some kookaburras had nested in the hollow of the tree above and she was keen to capture a photo of the baby kookaburra. We began a conversation about sustainability, different cultures, and then our travels overseas. She’d been to many of the countries I had, and it was a delight to reminisce and share stories.

Later, I realised we had created our own melodic chatter as our energy interconnected and our vibration stretched and expanded into many continents. I wondered, “Was nature now listening intently to us, and did she feel and absorb the inspiration and heartfelt joy of our connection?” I hoped so.

With gratitude.

Magical Blessings in Hawaii

SibylAugust2018Issue

First Published Sibyl Magazine August 2018

Recently in Hawaii, a place filled with mana, the energy of the ancient, an essence felt like a gentle cloud lifting your spirit. We landed in Honolulu and then took a flight to Kauai the smallest island of the Hawaiian group, yet the oldest.

Several hours after we landed Pele the volcano on the Big Island erupted. After a discussion with the local natives, they expressed no surprise nor concern. They understood Pele and had a deeper more profound connection which gave me confidence that all would be well.

On my second morning, I was enjoying breakfast by the ocean with a couple of friends when a native in spirit came to me. We began a conversation, unbeknown to my friends sitting at the table, and he asked if I would do a ceremony on the beach, which I agreed. I have to say that I didn’t know what that would look like but trusted I would know at the time.

That afternoon we went off to peruse the island, and the next morning I went down to the ocean alone and began to walk along the beach. The sun shone with such warmth, the sea breeze gently kissed my skin, and the salt air made me feel alive and happy. The ocean was magical, and then I stumbled across a seal sunning itself looking delightfully peaceful. This was the place!

Feeling a sense of excitement, I took off my sandals and walked into the water up to my ankles, then raised my hands, and as I did the native spirits surrounded me. I unleashed my soul’s voice, a light language I have sung since a small child. Then I heard them as they sang in the same language, a first for me, and my heart burst open with joy. The energy was electrifying yet soothing as we harmonised together, and I soon lost myself in it. For how long I have no idea, but what I can say is I was abruptly woken out of my state by a rush of icy cold water between my legs. OMG. I looked down to see the water was lapping at the top of my thighs. Had I walked in further?

I moved back out of the water and onto the wet sand, feeling a little dazed. Then my feet sunk into the compacted sand covering my ankles. Then, thump, thump thump. A steady beat pounded hard under my feet, the sand around moved with the intensity, tears began to flow for I felt Mother Earth’s heartbeat. I gently closed my eyes feeling one with her, a sacred time, never to be forgotten.

Previously, I’ve been compelled to travel to far and distant places to heal the land, and the people, and be the key to open portals and vortexes. This time was very different for it was a gift and blessing for me. A past life known about yet confirmed in greater detail, which tears still flow in gratitude today.

How Sound Affects Your Life

SibylFeb2018

First Published in Sibyl Magazine February 2018

Have you ever wondered why certain sounds and noises create an emotional and physical response?

For example, a shrilling scream may sound piercing to the ears and create a feeling of dread in the stomach. You instantly hold your breath and listen, then it quickens as your brain is assessing, and the primal response of flight or fight kicks in. Your legs are either light and ready to run or heavy and paralysed as the adrenaline shoots through your system.

There’s the opposite like when you hear the sound of the ocean and the waves caressing the sand. A feeling of lightness and calm flow through your body, your breathing slows, and the mind becomes silent and peaceful. Your awareness heightens, and you smell the salt in the air, feel the slight breeze kissing your face, and the sun’s warmth on your skin brings a gentle comfort. Then, your body naturally takes a deep soulful breath in and out.

We are an incredible spiritual being in a human body, and our connection to Mother Earth brings us back into harmony, balance and alignment.

All sound has its frequency and accordingly creates a response such as the sound of your voice. Have you ever noticed some voice tones grate, and others soothe?

We often fill our lives with harsh noises by what we choose to listen to through television, radio, music, etc. I’m not saying we should incubate ourselves and not experience all of what life has to offer. I’m sharing how important it is to create balance and make a conscious choice to recalibrate and re-harmonise our body, mind and spirit.

Last year I had a near death experience which caused ill health for some time. My brain was in a fog, I couldn’t articulate and remember simple words, and I was listless. Loving friends visited and gave me DVD’s to watch, cooked me meals and sat to keep me company. Their intentions were pure, but the sound and frequency of their voices caused my brain distress, and very quickly my body responded, I felt nauseous and the colour on my face turned grey as my energy depleted. I couldn’t watch the DVD’s or television because it did the same.

My body and brain needed silence to heal, and then along the way, the sounds and movement in nature were my gifts, and then I began to recalibrate and move my healing to another level by chanting and singing.

Then, I chose the music and DVD’s I could listen to and watch, and I recognised the sounds that soothed and uplifted my energy and those that agitated and drained it.

This experience although difficult taught me so much about how we respond energetically to our environment, and the importance of having this awareness for our health and wellbeing.

You are an incredible human being made up of trillions of cells. It’s time to nurture, harmonise and recalibrate, and take responsibility for your energy, and wellness will be your reward.

Back on Path, Mindfulness in Action

One_Path_Many_Lights_eBook_WebsiteAn excerpt from my book One Path, Many Lights – Chapter Eight

Back on Path, Mindfulness in Action

After the experience with my carotid artery I knew it was important to maintain some form of fitness and stay healthy. However, I realised it had been a number of weeks since I had walked any significant distance.

Off to the Lilydale Lake I went. Getting up in the dark and trying to find my clothes, I started to wonder, What am I doing?  Yet after washing the sleep from my eyes I could see clearly again and realised it wasn’t that bad!

My friend Charlotte and I started our walk around the lake when it was still dark. Street lights along the path partially lit our way and we were guided by the light of the full moon. It was magical.

On our past walks together we had talked and laughed, and focused mainly on our goal of getting around the lake twice in a good time. Yet something had happened. We started noticing so much more – like rabbits sitting tall and watching us. As we came close, they turned around with their fluffy white tails and scuttled away. At first we only noticed one but hiding behind clumps of grass was a whole family. A duck swam silently through the calm water forming a V-shaped wake as it glided along. The sun was rising in all its colour and brilliance. Mist hovered over the lake. Charlotte imagined we were in a scene from King Arthur. I thought we were in Scotland waiting for the Loch Ness monster to rise up and grace us with its presence.

We smiled encouragingly as our imagination bubbled — something I hadn’t felt for a while – and I got in touch with my inner child.

A little marsupial, larger than a mouse and not as big as a rat, sat comfortably on the side of the walkway, eating happily and not phased one bit as we strode by. We looked in amusement, making up stories about what it was thinking about us. Sitting on a post, two small blue birds watched as we walked by, their vivid colour bringing us feelings of happiness and putting a skip in our step.

Everything had changed. Nature’s beauty and richness was enhanced.

We expanded our breath as we walked and talked, each of our senses taking in the experience of the moment. Our bodies were relaxed even though we walked fast. Our backs extended upwards as if we were getting taller. We decided to rename Lilydale Lake “Lake Epiphany” because there had been many times that answers had profoundly dropped in.

No longer did we talk about getting fit. We shared that we were nourishing our souls as we breathed in the moment, aware and open.

It’s so easy, through life’s twists and turns, to lose our connection with the very thing that inspires and nourishes us: nature.

I now understand that reconnecting with nature makes us infinitely richer.

Back in the car we wound down the windows when they fogged up from our body heat. Driving off I felt the breeze cooling the perspiration on my face and down the back of my neck. I was alive! With gratitude, I silently thanked Lake Epiphany and all of her inhabitants for sharing and showing me the way.

Creativity Comes at The Most Unexpected Times

ShadowDo you find your creative muse flows at the most unexpected times?

My own shadow as seen on the sand in this picture inspired the below poem. At the time, I felt so connected to all of me, nature and Mother Earth; it just spilt out. A creative burst you might say.

Oh, and I do have two arms the other was taking the photo 😉

SHADOW

Today I acknowledge love and accept the shadow side of me.

Today I am ONE.

In love, with love, for I AM love.

An embodiment of all elements,

And in this moment, I am gifted with

Sun, Air, Earth and Water.

A loving reminder to feel, breathe, ground and flow.

With gratitude

Supporting Change Through The Universal Shift

PENTAX Image

I love spring – It just opens my heart to see such beauty as nature’s richness and colour shines through. I love the feeling and warmth of the sun, along with the coolness of the breeze and those lovely warm days and cool nights for sleeping.
Bliss 🙂

Amongst all of this beauty there is a sense of each and every one of us opening to something new, a knowing is bubbling within and a connection of things to come, yet for some, the veil is not quiet open to allow you to see clearly the direction in which you will go.

Through this unknowing the universal law of cause and effect sets in motion and our internal primal fear may rise to create some discomfort such as; feeling anxious without knowing why, emotional outbursts or withdrawal, feelings of isolation, uncertainty, lack of passion, sense of being in limbo, light headed and ungrounded.

We could allow our feelings of discomfort to let fear drive us as we dig our heels in and try to stop this change from happening. However there is a greater force moving us, and the more we try to stop it, the harder it is to keep our balance.

Change is happening whether we like it or not …

The universal shift is taking place and the unique and authentic self is awakening to your soul’s purpose and truth, which is now more than ever expressing itself.

Love is the only true way of being, and the light within is illuminating

Let the shadow side of yourself and those pieces that had been hidden emerge, so they may be seen and acknowledged with acceptance, healing, growth and enlightenment, all with compassion and self-love.

Be mindful and watch and observe the signs and allow your journey to unfold.

Be in the flow …

Journal, and as you write ask your soul to reveal your next step. Be a great listener for when you stop the thinking and talking in your head you might be surprised as to what guidance you may feel, hear and see. Remember our loved ones and those benevolent beings are always around to support us. When we’re in our busyness it’s hard to be aware of the signs and be in sync with life and living.

Take responsibility for your actions, listen to what you say, and be mindful to think and speak with positive intention for everything is manifesting much quicker than ever before.

You may choose to seek counsel from professionals to help support your transition. It’s okay to ask for help, we are all in this together.

Spend time in nature for your heart yearns for this connection. Many of us have truly forgotten to take personal time to sit, listen and feel, forgetting that we all have the gift of personal insight.

Recall the last time your head, heart and feelings were in alignment and how it felt and served you well – let your heart and soul guide you to remember.

As the Guardians of the Light say, “Seeing through the eyes of your heart truly gives you a real view of your inner and outer world. Seeing through the eyes of your heart connects you to a greater more encompassing view.”

Until next time
