A Simple Path

There’s a purpose to all that we do whether that be consciously or unconsciously.

How many times have we driven the same route to work and found ourselves entering the carpark not remembering the journey along the way? In fact, we do that often with simple tasks in our lives that have become habitual.

Of late, I’ve noticed I’m more aware of what I’m doing or saying at that moment. What had changed for me? All I can say is that it was a choice, a conscious one. I desired to breathe in the gift of life and allow it to support, encourage and guide me. I no longer wished to go through my day unconsciously without experiencing the delight, meaning and purpose by being present in my life.

Choosing to be present gifted me the opportunity to process and gain understanding and wisdom in the here and now.

It stopped the unhealthy mind chatter and soaking up of energy that stilted my path by ignoring my feelings, and body, that spoke gently to inspire action for self-love and self-care. Through this understanding, I’ve found life much simpler, and remarkably I’ve embraced my voice and speak it with more clarity and strength. I just love that! In fact,

I’m enjoying life with so much gratitude that my heart sings more often than weeping.

We each have a story in our lives, one that seems to underline or undermine us. It’s associated with the past, and often we don’t even realise we’re re-enacting it daily in our actions, and how we vocalise and interact with ourselves and others, similar to driving our car unconsciously. When we begin to listen to and understand our story, we can choose to make a concerted effort to change, heal, release and move it to where it belongs, in the past.

Listen intently to your words whether they are verbalised out loud, in your head or written down. This awareness will have you as your own counsel and guide your way. Take notice, breathe deeply, ingest each moment as if it were your last. Slow down your thoughts and body so you may feel into each and every event in your life.

It’s so easy to hear and see others but not always ourselves.

I’ve come to appreciate the more grounded I am, the more aware I am at seeing clearly my actions and witnessing my emotion and communication.

Life is a playground of learning, and we complicate it so much by not being present in our lives. The undercurrent, unconscious beliefs and behaviours don’t always serve us.

We, yes, we, have the power to embrace the present, open our awareness and relax into the simplicity it offers.

Don’t let your unconscious behaviours rule your present happiness for you are a child of light gifted with free-will to empower choice in your life.

Choose presence in your life and know the gift of love will surely guide your actions.

Love you, until next time

My Heart Speaks

SibylApril2019InsideStory

First published in Sibyl Magazine April 2019

I often bring myself back to the fact I’m a spiritual being having a human experience. When I consider spirituality, I don’t see it as separate from my physical journey on this earth plane.

In fact, embodying the whole of my mind, body, soul and heart empowers me to experience life in all aspects. For I am the child, teenager, adolescent, adult, woman, mother, sister, friend. I’m also the healer, the nurturer, the seer, the star child, the wise sage and shaman. I AM ALL THAT I AM.. a child of God, connected within a stream of light, born of love, conceived of light and intended to experience all that IS.

Today’s a beautiful warm day here in Australia. The sun is shining, and I’m sitting outside enjoying its warmth. I’ve asked for inspiration and received so much more.

Today, I’ve been greeted by a dragonfly, had a ladybug land on me, enjoyed the hungry chirping of newborn birds in a nest in one of my trees. Had a colourful butterfly fly around while my gorgeous little dog Maggie slept on my lap while we rested for a short time.

These were my inspiration for this article, which I’m delighted and thankful for. Seeing the dragonfly was quite unusual for it generally flies near water. The Dragonfly symbolises change, transformation, adaptability, and self-realisation. This change has its source in mental and emotional maturity and understanding the deeper meaning of life.

It’s been a long, long while since I’ve seen a ladybug and the ladybug is the embodiment of luck, good fortune and prosperity leading one to experience the joys of life and living life to the fullest.

The butterfly is also about transformation, change, joy and colour. Laughing do you see a theme here?

The last time I saw newborn chicks nesting in a tree was when I was a small child, and I can only imagine it meant my hopes and dreams were ready to take flight.

My journey of fifty-eight years on this path has not always been easy. In fact, there have been multiple traumas throughout my life. On reflection, these have served me well in my vocation for I connect from a place of knowing and compassion, and my gentle soul is always intact. I’ve been inspired to share that our past is just that. Don’t let it define you, allow it to shape your experience, for our quest is to embrace love and allow the authentic truth of our soul to emerge.

Throughout my journey, I’ve come to understand it’s the simple things that bring me the greatest of joys, and simplifying my choices brings me peace and happiness. As I listen intently to my heart and walk a path of ‘feeling my way’ rather than ‘thinking my way’, I’ve released so much indecision and tension creating more harmony in my life.

Life is to be lived not accumulated. We have the innate abilities to create and manifest a life well lived. Recently, I found a quote online. Unfortunately, the author is unknown, and I’d love to share it with you.

“Life is like a piano. The white keys represent happiness, and the black keys show sadness. But as you go through life’s journey, remember that black keys make music too.”

In closing, embody all of you, seek within and allow your heart to express and light your path. From experience life in its simplicity will create from one synchronised moment to the other. When we’re present, we will notice the signs and take heart from those gifts, and happiness will be our reward.

Until next time,

Hawaii – Transition – Epiphanies

MariaKauai

Two weeks ago, I arrived home from my trip to Hawaii and what a trip it was my friends. In fact, who would have thought that Pele the volcano on the big island would decide to erupt within a couple of hours of arriving? Fortunately, I was on another island, and I can honestly say that I’m still processing the writer’s retreat held in Turtle Bay and the spiritual initiations experienced on Kauai. Oh, and now I have three books on the go lol 😂

During my first week home, I became unwell which unexpectedly allowed me time and space to process further, and this week epiphanies and clarity have been flowing in abundance.

In the past couple of years, I’ve thought all I’d been doing in my business had to change and resisted running the popular workshops and classes I had previously. I felt in transition and hoped that something would emerge to show me my direction and had been searching both outside of myself and within for inspiration.

Then speaking with a friend on the weekend I witnessed myself say, “For a long time now I’ve felt I had to find different things to do, but I now realise, it’s not about doing different things, it’s about doing things differently.” So, in other words, all of what I’ve done in my past in my business was still valid and important. Aha moment here guys.

I listened to those words long after the conversation and shook my head. OMG, that’s it. The universe had sent me signs through many ex-students over the past twelve months asking and sometimes begging me to begin a meditation class once again. I kept saying no, it doesn’t feel right because in my head I was supposed to be doing something different. Then other colleagues said, “Do it virtually, you can see more people that’s what everyone’s doing today.” But, that still didn’t feel right even though I was planning to begin a virtual class in June. You see I’ve realised, I love teaching, and being the ultimate nurturer, I love to create a sacred space and see the transformation in my students’ and clients.

Another epiphany, I now completely understand that all of the deep soul healing I’ve been personally doing over the past couple of years has supported me to heal the past and change what hasn’t served me. Previously, I had little focus outside of my work, for my work was my passion, and it drove me.

Now, although still my passion, I’ve come to realise I’m passionate about my life.

I’m an introvert and need time to replenish my energy and have been blessed with a beautiful, sensitive little pup, Maggie, that I adore and has come into my life to divert my attention while bringing me so much joy. I love to write, and I love to travel and feel the freedom to go where I’m inspired to be, for I’m a creative, energetic being.

Still true to my purpose to support, and inspire hope in others yet at the same time honour and create for me. I’m such a different person now, with stronger boundaries, and a real want to be Maria and not always the counsellor, healer and teacher.

Let’s face it.. we can certainly attend to our higher purpose and at the same time give as much attention to ourselves.

While writing this article, I can feel the excitement and passion filling me to the brim. Maybe by sharing my process, it may assist you too especially if you’re struggling with work, family, life, balance.

Love, love, love processes and the divine wisdom we have, yet it sometimes takes space to be created so that we hear, and I mean REALLY HEAR those magical words.

I’ve now sat down and had a strategy session, laughing with myself. I’ve set up my week so that I can include all that I love and the importance of sharing with those that I love. Doing this has given me a renewed passion for my business and how I can support more people through my classes and workshops, therefore working more effectively.

There’s a saying, “Work smart not hard”.

Inspiration seems to be flowing as the creativity sparks. I’m so excited about life, living and loving, and I’m aware that I flow best when I honour myself and keep my mind flexible and open, and move accordingly.

Life’s Unseen Gifts

SibylApril2018

First Published in Sibyl Magazine April 2018

Confusion, doubt, incessant mind games haunting the recesses of my mind. What is the truth? What do I believe?

Growing up with a narcissistic mother and then dealing with a father who was caught up in his fears and took his frustration out on me in many unpleasant ways. I often wonder how I’m so sane today. Or am I, or realistically is anyone?

Coming into this world I had a deep understanding and eagerness to learn, yet as I became more initiated into this human life with the twisted mind games a narcissist plays and the physical abuse the body endured. I rolled from having a well of deep compassion to feeling confused, fearful, alone and just wanting to go home. This world was cruel.

Yet, I chose my parents, and there was much to learn from them.

Honestly, it wasn’t until I was in my twenties I began to accept that statement. Prior when others from spiritual circles would express that, the hair at the back of my neck would prickle with disbelief and anger rose.

It was during a lunch break at a Reiki workshop I was teaching when one of my students who was sitting opposite reacted to something I said. She slammed her hands down on the table and launched her body towards me and screamed,

“I’ve had the same childhood and how can you be so positive?”

I remember, although shocked by the force of her energy. A calmness from within emerged, and I sat still for a moment feeling her pain, then compassionately said,

“There’s a saying that God never gives us more than we can handle. I was born with an awareness that has assisted me to see the positive through life’s challenges so that when I fall, and I do, I rise with hope and faith. Now, you have shared your husband is your rock. Tell me have you always had someone in your life that was your rock?”

She answered with calmer energy, “Yes.” I then said,

“I’ve never had a rock. Could you consider that your rock is similar to my positive nature for it has the same role in holding us when life throws bricks, and we fall?”

She thought for a moment and nodded in agreement as she settled back into her chair.

We are never, ever alone in our journey of learning to meander through this life. God/Universe gives us gifts to support in different ways, yet all leading to lift us when we fall.

My parents, I can honestly say I love with all my heart although they have chosen to be absent from my life. They gave me life, showed me their vulnerability, and although I’ve been twisted, reshaped and had a journey of hard learning through similar relationships. It’s been the untangling, simplifying and coming back to the authentic loving, and joyful me that has fuelled my purpose, because of my journey, for supporting and bringing hope into others’ lives.

In gratitude, Namaste

Star Child – The Soul Sings

SibylBlogJan2018

First Published in Sibyl Magazine January 2018

As a small child, I used to run around singing, ‘I’m a star child, I’m a star child.’
To be honest, I never thought about what it meant or was. I suppose I just knew, and it made me happy to skip and sing.

The innocence of a child is refreshingly open and fearless.

As the star child experienced more of what the human life offered, she often found herself sitting in her bath knees hunched up to her chest and singing, but this time it was different. It was sounds and frequencies; she was calling and connecting to home.

I was around eight years of age when I found my soul’s voice. I remember every cell within my body would activate and vibrate giving me such a euphoric feeling. Sadness slipped away, and I felt uplifted and energised.

Connecting back to that small child, she always knew her purpose on this earth. She knew she was to bring hope into this world and was gifted a beautiful smile, sparkling eyes, and a soothing voice. She understood it raised people’s vibration and it was her role to do precisely that.

Though along the way she had lost herself.

Her focus had become external as she took on her role with gusto not realising how important it was to also take care of herself, her energy and her light.

Have you ever felt that way?

The responsibility began to weigh heavily and at times, felt impossible as her own life spiralled into the abyss. The abyss was her thoughts, the mindless overactive brain that drew from fear, past pain and the what if’s.

Where was the star child? Where had she gone?

This day in my home I was stopped suddenly by a chorus singing. The voices were angelic, and I went outside to look where they came from, but they weren’t external. They were within my left ear. So, I laid down on my bed and listened.

I wish I could describe in words the feeling of the harmonic resonance. It was as if many voices were coming from many directions singing in harmony with each other. Then it dawned on me, OMG they were all me! My heart burst open, and tears flowed in recognition. I lay down for some time being blissed out, re-tuned, loved and reconnected to ME.

Life can be a roller coaster, and during those dips when our vibration is low we can become mindless and unconscious in action.

Through experience, life has shown me that mindlessness only creates fear and uncertainty, and traps us. When we connect to our heart and soul, we feel love and loved, and our breath naturally becomes deeper as we anchor to Mother Earth bringing ourselves into the present.

In the present, mindlessness becomes mindfulness.

Being mindful, we make conscious choices connected to our inner knowing creating simplicity and flow. The star child emerges and once again sings in harmony with her soul’s purpose.

When It’s Time to Do Nothing

TimeToDoNothing

Interesting concept and for some incredibly hard to do.

Are you the type that while sitting and watching a movie or television, or while waiting for an appointment is also answering emails, messaging, checking social media? Or are your thoughts on an expedition to somewhere land?

Have you ever started one thing, stopped part way and began another then tried to remember what you were initially doing?

Have you ever felt the need to rest, but you chose to ignore it?

I have done every one of these, and I’m hoping there are some heads nodding. If not, you may not want to read any further.

Sometimes we are receiving nudges just to do NOTHING!

Stop thinking! Stop doing and take a break!

It’s okay, give it a go what are a few moments, an hour or a day.

I call it for me, getting out of my way. Let’s face it, we all have to deal with challenges, schedules and so on and often our greatest block is ourselves, and especially that opponent within the mind that wants to control.

What’s the best way to clear a block?

Step back, take a breath, ground and become present.

Then, get out of the stories, unplug and reconnect with you. I’m talking about realigning with your innate wisdom for when in alignment everything flows; creativity, happiness, simplicity, clarity, direction, love .. I’m sure you know what I mean because you’ve been there.

So, in this week’s blog, my message is to be aware of the opponent that comes from the head in its words of should’s and the what if’s that polarise and distract.

Allow space, become an empty vessel, you DON’T HAVE to DO ANYTHING just enjoy the moment.

Taking time to do nothing is an investment, and you’d be surprised how the ideas and clarity drift in when you create the space.

You’ll have a renewed energy that is focused and meaningful, with purpose and passion ignited.
